On Monday this week we were privileged to host Dr Bernard Nuwatuha at the secondary school. He spoke to the Senior Three and Four students about his experience growing up and how he managed to overcome various difficulties to become a doctor and a lecturer in undergraduate, masters and postgraduate courses. Speaking from experience, he challenged students not to let their past limit their future and to start earning an income for themselves rather than relying entirely on their parents for school fees. He encouraged students to do their best, to value themselves and their lives, to work hard, and to make the most of every opportunity. He cautioned against pregnancy, early marriages and being careless with their lives. Amongst other advice, he emphasised the need for students to:
- Be patient in difficult circumstances (he was unable to study for 6 years after A Levels, due to a lack of fees, but later returned to education to complete a degree and then a PhD).
- Value and respect themselves.
- Persistently follow up teachers in areas where they want to improve their marks.
- Fear God – he has reached where he is today by the grace of God.
After an inspiring talk dotted with humorous anecdotes, Dr Bernard answered questions from both students and staff. We hope to host him again soon for further insights and advice!
Good message to our beloved students,Dr.thanks for work done
