Students and former students of JJ Vocational Secondary School have been putting their vocational skills to good use …
Two former students who graduated from Senior Four last year enjoyed tailoring lessons while at school and were keen to develop their skills further. Thanks to a generous donation to JJ they were able to enrol on a short course in Kampala and learnt to make uniforms for JJ’s institutions. Now back at JJ, they have started making uniforms for the schools, with ongoing guidance from JJ’s tailoring teacher.
During their last holiday, secondary building construction students plastered the walls and completed the floors in the Headteacher’s house at the primary school. They also plastered and painted the front of the administration block at the secondary school and completed the plastering work and flooring inside the block. Carpentry students fixed lockable cupboards onto desks which had none, and senior one girls have learnt to make re-usable sanitary pads.
Students at JJ Excel College have also been busy. While some students prepared resources for their school practice as trainee Nursery Teachers, others learnt skills in building and catering.
Waiting to hear the verdict about their cooking….
