Speech Day 2018 began with a prayer, the national anthem, and then a welcome song written by one of the teachers and performed by the school choir. The Information Prefect read the news, and then the “Omuzaano” (“play”) began, in front of a packed audience of parents, past pupils, neighbours and guests.
This year pupils performed a musical telling the account of Jesus’ last week on earth, leading to his crucifixion and resurrection. It featured songs in English and Runyankore, a Runyankore script direct from the Bible, a celebratory dance created by teachers, and star parts including Jesus and his disciples, Chief Priests, angels, Pilate, guards and even a 2-man donkey, which caused quite a stir!
It was followed by some encouraging words from various stakeholders, and then selected pupils were presented with certificates of effort and achievement.
Please see here for more photos from the function.
Congratulations to all those who contributed to making the day a success!
