Introducing “JJ Excel College”

The year began with prayers, discussions and negotiations with regard to purchasing a technical and vocational college located only a few kilometres away from JJ’s primary and secondary schools.  We were made aware of the sale of the college and, despite lacking readily available funding, realised that its addition as a service offered by JJ would be a significant asset to the organisation.  It will enable us to increase and improve our provision for vocational training, as well as to introduce other technical courses, thus better preparing our students for life after school.

We continue to witness God’s provision (“JJ” is short for Jehovah Jireh – God provides) with some generous gifts specifically for the purchase.  The sellers have also been very helpful and have agreed that the payment be made in instalments over a period of 2 years.  The initial instalment was paid last month upon the signing of the purchase agreement.

The college offers a wide variety of courses grouped under its Technical, Business, Vocational and Education Faculties.  These include block laying and concrete practice (building construction), motor vehicle mechanics, accountancy, nursery teaching, computer and information technology, tourism, catering and hotel management.  The nationally recognised courses are offered as Junior Certificates (for Primary Seven leavers), Certificates and Diplomas, and are awarded by UBTEB (Uganda Business and Technical Examinations Board), DIT (Directorate of Industrial Training) and Makerere University.

We will operate JJ Excel College as a not for profit institution, as for our primary and secondary schools.  We seek to make high quality training as accessible and affordable as possible, taking another step forward in our mission:

To further develop rural communities so that every individual will be living to full potential, realizing rights and fulfilling aspirations.

Working towards our vision:

Educated, empowered and transformed rural communities to the Glory of God.

Would you like to enrol for a course with us?  Or maybe you know someone who would like to study for a vocational/technical/business course?  It is not too late to join as part of our 2018 intake!

You may like to consider supporting us financially (here) as we complete the purchase of the college, improve the infrastructure and increase the stock of equipment and other resources available.  We plan to provide plenty of opportunities for practice, to ensure a high standard of practical skills.

We continue in amazement and thankfulness as we witness God’s hand at work, appreciating the opportunities He opens up for us, the continued provision for our growth and development as an organisation, and our supporters who have enabled this purchase through prayer and financial support.
