About Us

JJ Community Transformation (U) began in 2006 when local pioneer Horace shared his vision to improve lives in his home village. Horace knows first hand how tough life in this community can be – orphaned at 9 years old he grew up with his grandmother, and had to work hard to provide for his basic needs and education.

As a youngster he felt especially sad during periods of absenteeism from school due to not affording the required school fees. Yet, Horace gratefully remembers support from key people within the community who, despite their limited income, encouraged and supported him as they were able. He made a commitment to help others struggling to survive and to access education should he grow up.

Thanks to generous support, his sixth form and further education costs were all covered, leading to salaried employment in Kampala.

The fulfilment of Horace’s commitment to help others access education began when he completed primary education at 16 years old – he began teaching nursery level children. Fast forward to 2006, and after sharing his vision with friends, a gift specifically for land marked the beginning of “JJ”. Jehovah Jireh Nshumi Community School, located in South Western Uganda, began with a Primary One class in February 2007, providing an opportunity for the neediest children in the area.

By God’s provision the school has grown, and a new class introduced each year as the initial pupils progressed up the school. Generous supporters have financed the purchase of land, construction of buildings and basic running costs. Community participation is high – parents pay modest contributions as they are able and together with other local residents, join in voluntary work days to improve the school environment.

In 2013 the first primary pupils completed their Primary Leaving Exams with fantastic results. In 2014 JJ began a secondary school and in 2018 a technical/vocational and business college… the vision continues to unfold.
